My wife and I and our 8 year old daughter recently returned from our vacation during the week of November 25, 2005 through December 3, 2005 to Walt Disney World. We stayed at the All Star Music Resort. During our stay my wife had hemodialysis treatments at Davita clinic in Celebrity on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. While she was having treatment on Wednesday my daughter and I decided to ride over to the Wide World of Sports complex to check out the stadium and gift shop. We looked around in the gift shop, purchased a jersey for my daughter and she saw a Stitch football she liked while we were there. I told her to wait until the end of the week and see if she saw anything somewhere else she might want more before deciding on a choice, and then left the gift shop to pick up my wife from her treatment. During my wife's next treatment on Friday afternoon, my daughter said she'd like to return to the gift shop at Wide World of Sports and look around some more. I took her there and out of her view selected the Stitch football and had the attendant at the cash register ring it up and bag it for me while she was looking at other items. As we started to leave the gift shop a gentleman named Chris commented to my daughter. He said, "Hello, I've seen you here before haven't I? You were here earlier this week and bought a jersey." We replied, "Yes, we had been there on Wednesday." Chris mentioned that he remembered her being there and thought she was special and wanted to do something special for her for shopping in his gift shop. He proceeded to let her select a pin from his lanyard. She selected a Pluto pin as that is her favorite character. He then said he had something else he wanted her to have and pulled a certificate of recognition from under the counter and filled it in and presented it to her. These are usually given to participants that excel in special sports programs at the complex. It is an understatement to say that my daughter was thrilled to get the certificate and the pin as well. I was especially touched as well. I found it amazing that Chris would have remembered a guest shopping in his store from earlier in the week. Granted, there were no events going on at Wide World of Sports and the area was nearly deserted, but we enjoyed seeing the stadium and walking around the grounds. Chris' attention to detail and his level of service went head over heels above the call of duty that Friday afternoon and his actions touched the heart of a little girl that was waiting for her mom to get off a dialysis machine before returning to the Magic Kingdom for the MVMCP. Our week at Walt Disney World was wonderful, but Chris's actions showed us what Disney Magic is all about. My hat is off to Chris, and Emma and I offer our most sincere thanks.
