We were fortunate enough to attend Disneyland's 50th Anniversary party. The park was absolutely jammed but we were just happy to be there to experience that magical day. We grabbed some fast passes for the relatively new Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters and while we waited for our appointed time, we shopped in Tomorrowland. I advanced my son some of his birthday money so that he could purchased a toy replica of one of the Astroblasters that he would be using on the ride. While not cheap ($25) my son was delighted.

We finally got on the ride and I offered to hold my son's toy for him. Of course he refused. We rode the ride (truly an astroBLAST!) and a minute or so after we got off, I noticed that my son no longer had his toy blaster. I asked him where it was and he turned stark white and in a terrified voice said that he left it on the ride.

We ran back and spoke to the cast member (Mr. Andrew Mason) who was at the ride's exit and told him what had happened. He told us to wait and proceeded to ask everyone who got off the ride for the next 5 - 10 minutes if they had found the toy. No one admitted to finding it so he called his supervisor and explained what had happened. The supervisor came over and relieved Andrew of his post.

Andrew told us to come with him. I wasn't sure what was happening but told my son to follow him. Andrew took us into the Buzz Lightyear store and asked us to show him the toy. We pointed it out to him and he grabbed a new one off the shelf, walked behind the register and whispered into the ear of the Cast Member working there. Andrew then bagged the new astroblaster and handed it to my son.

I couldn't believe that they were going to hand him a new $25 toy just like that and insisted that I pay for it, but Andrew wouldn't here of it. He told my son that it was an early birthday present from everyone who worked at Disneyland and that he didn't want anything to ruin my son's or our very special day.

I felt a huge lump in my throat as I shook Andrew's hand and thanked him. He came out from behind the counter and my son ran up and gave him a big tearful hug. I about lost it at that point. What made it even more special was that Andrew took the time on such a busy day (50,000+ in attendance) to help keep a little boy's belief in the magic alive.

Andrew's behavior and dedication to the guest are truly what Walt would have done! Keep up the great work, Andrew. And thank you once again from the bottom of my heart!
