Gwen - Forever Magic

  Current List

Leo of Rosemount, MN shares this Fall, 1999 experience.

WWWD™ Pin Recipient

Our story took three years to complete. The forth year is the writing of that magical experience at this site, here to nominate Gwen. With a friendly computer now operating, I can now complete the story of my family meeting a cast member with "magic" at Walt Disney World. Back in 1999, my family and I were enjoying the "Magical Experience". Throughout the parks, my wife kept eyeing a figurine of "Lady" in a hat box, from "Lady and the Tramp". It turned out to be a Disney's collector piece. She brushed away the desire from purchasing it, because she did not want to commit by joining the "Collectors Society". One day as we were making our way through the attractions at Epcot, we ventured into the store area that is now called "Mouse Gears". At that time the upper level was home to "Walt Disney Collectors Society". As the wife was preoccupied with the kids shopping, I secretly ventured up into the gallery upstairs. I met cast member (Gwen Eddy). I explained that I had left the wife and kids downstairs, and that I would like to sign my wife as a member of the club. But, anxiously I explained to her that if my wife would come up to the gallery, I would like to keep her enrollment a secret. She agreed to the pretense of side tracking the wife, if she would enter the gallery. Well, as you would have guessed, the wife and kids paraded up the stairs. Gwen spotted them immediately. As I completed the paper work to have the collectors piece and membership secretly shipped home, Gwen occupied all three of them with wonders of the imagination contain in the gallery. I was overwhelmed with Gwen's accomplishment; she pulled it of "Magically". The wife had not a clue. We went back to Disney world in 2000, and thought we would look-up an old friend. We found out that the Gallery had closed and re-located. We returned again in 2001, and found out at the new gallery location; Gwen had transferred to Heritage Manor in "Nations". We were lucky to find her and chatted for sometime. Amazingly she recognized us immediately (we must have made a hilarious impression of "cloak and suspense" theater, and that was based only on a 3/4 hour meeting back in 1999. Then in 2001 I came across your web site with a means to say "thanks" to cast members. I purchased a 100 year pin. And quickly planned the next trip. My daughter joined me for a quick two day visit to Disney World-Epcot. Our mission, if successful, would present Gwen with an "100 Year Award Pin". Just by luck, (more "Magic", in my opinion), her work schedule and our visit coincided. Again, as we approached her, Gwen recognized my daughter and me immediately. Finally, after a three year quest my family was enabled to say Thank You to a Cast Member officially and properly, who has an abundance of "Magic" to share
